Every year we set out to find a keynote that skips the marketing and goes straight into the architecture. This year, we found exactly that.
We’re thrilled to announce that Tino Tereshko will deliver the keynote at Data Platform Next Step 2026.
Tino is Director of Product for Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse. Before joining Microsoft, he spent nearly a decade building Google BigQuery and co-founded MotherDuck — a database startup backed by a16z, Redpoint, Altimeter, and Felicis. He knows what it takes to build a data warehouse at scale, from the inside out.
His keynote, Fabric Data Warehouse’s Ultra-Modern Architecture, will do exactly what the title promises. Most cloud data warehouses were architected in the mid-2010s — before open table formats, lakehouse architectures, and AI-driven analytics changed everything. Fabric Data Warehouse was built from the ground up in the 2020s, and Tino will take us deep into how it actually works: distributed query processing, compute-storage separation, Delta-based storage in OneLake, and what those architectural choices mean for performance, cost, and scale in practice. Plus a glimpse into what’s coming next.
This continues a tradition we’re proud of — technical keynotes from the people who actually build these platforms:
- 2025 — Raghu Ramakrishnan, Technical Fellow at Microsoft
- 2024 — Justyna Lucznik, Director of PM at Microsoft
- 2023 — Bogdan Crivat, Vice President at Microsoft
We can’t wait to kick off June 2nd with this one.
